Expressive meanings of colors in the Holy Quran

Abstract

Color in light physics is the product of absorbing the wavelengths of other colors and reflecting the specific wavelength of light. But this reflection produces various meanings and concepts in the human mind. In the visual arts, the theory of color expression deals with the functions of color in the expression of human mental and emotional values. The Holy Quran has used colors in various ways and conveyed different meanings through them. This research seeks to express the expressive aspects of color in the Holy Quran by collecting, categorizing, analyzing, and matching the meanings of colors. The findings of the present study showed that the expression of white color in verse 106 of Surah Al-Imran on endurance and stability, bright yellow in verse 69 of Surah Al-Baqarah, refreshing and inducing a sense of happiness, blue (bold blue) in verse 102 of Surah Taha, guilt and black In Surah Al-Imran, verse 106 and Surah Zumr, verse 187, to induce the feeling that blasphemy and lying produce in the human face, and in verse 17 of Surah Zukhruf to anger, as well as verse 41 of Surah Abbas, to the expressive aspects of black. Indicates sadness.
