An Analysis of the Time Narration of the Prophet Solomon's (as) Story in the Holy Quran Based on Gérard Genette's Theory

Abstract

One of the main techniques in the analysis of novels is the study and critique of storytelling according to the narratology theory of Gérard Genette, a French structuralist critic. In his view, time in each story is one of the important elements in advancing the pillars of the story and this time itself is divided into three parts: order, duration, and frequency. In this article, in a descriptive-analytical method, we have dealt with the category of time in the story of Solomon based on Genette's theory in order to examine and analyze the importance of using the element of time, its dependencies, and its components as one of the foundations of narration. The results of this study indicate that the course of Solomon's story has taken an upward trend due to the excessive use of omissions and the element of anachronism. This story is full of vibrancy, excitement, mobility, dynamism, apprehension, and inner and outer anxiety, and this issue largely balances the speed of the story.
