Abstract

Ghazi Nazr ul Islam is the national poet of Bangladesh. Freedom of humanity, unity of nation, supporting the oppressed, fairness and equity are the main ideas of his poems and writings. He is an epic poet. He is a poet who is deeply in love with Mohammad   the   prophet   and   ahl-ul Bait and this desire is seen in most of his works. He was hardly inspired by poets such as Hafez Shirazi, Omar Khayyam   and   Saadi. Many Persian words and phrases are observed in his works which has made them prosperous. Sadness, sorrow, effort and   distress   of   oppressed  people are portrayed in his works. He has written thousands of poems and songs, a few short stories, novels and drama which mainly contain the theme of love and affection. He is a poet popular among ordinary people who believed that right is to be obtained not given. Ghazi Nazr ul Islam is known as the pioneer and most genius person in Bengali literature after Tagore.
