In this research thirty four verses of the holy Quran in which the word "almia" is used were analysed in order to specify its defferent meanings in different linguistic contexts and collocations. The analyses of translations and interpretations from various sources indicate that this word is used with several meanings in the holy Quran. The meanings of "almia", with regard to their semantic relations and subject matter, are classified into the following five groups and discussed respectively:
1. Word, speech, and sentence (utterance) as the literal or central meanings of "almia".
2. God's creations
3. Monotheism
4. vow, commandment, and Allah's Law
5. Jesus Christ
It is worth noting that this classification is not absolute, since the meanings overlap in many cases especially the central meaning of "kalmia" which is dominant, according to the interpretations.
